How to resize an image
- Choose your image — drop it above or click to browse. It stays on your device.
- Enter the size you need in pixels, or tap a preset. With the aspect-ratio lock on (recommended), typing one dimension fills in the other automatically so the picture is never stretched.
- Pick a format and quality — keep the original format, or switch to JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Resize and download — the result shows the exact final dimensions and file size before you save it.
Common image sizes
| Use | Size (px) |
|---|---|
| Instagram post (square) | 1080 × 1080 |
| Instagram portrait post | 1080 × 1350 |
| Instagram / Facebook story, Reels cover | 1080 × 1920 |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 × 720 |
| Social share image (Open Graph) | 1200 × 630 |
Platforms occasionally change their recommended sizes; if a service gives you exact pixel requirements, type those numbers directly — the tool will match them exactly.
Limitations — stated honestly
- Enlarging cannot add detail. Making an image bigger than the original stretches the existing pixels; the result will look softer. The tool warns you when your target is larger than the original.
- Unlocked ratios change shape. With the lock off, any width/height pair is applied exactly — including ones that stretch or squash the picture. That is sometimes what you want (exact portal dimensions), so the choice is yours.
- JPG flattens transparency onto a white background. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparent areas.
- Need a smaller file, not smaller pixels? Use the KB compressor instead — it targets a file-size limit directly.
Privacy
Resizing runs 100% locally in your browser. Your image is never uploaded to ImageConvertPro or any other server, and nothing about the file is stored.
Frequently asked questions
What is aspect ratio, and should I lock it?
Aspect ratio is the proportion between width and height. Locking it keeps the picture's shape identical — only its size changes. Unlock it only when a service demands exact dimensions that differ from your photo's shape.
Will resizing reduce the file size too?
Usually yes: fewer pixels means a smaller file. But if your requirement is a file-size limit (such as "under 200 KB"), the compressor targets that directly and is the better tool.
Can I resize a photo for a passport or ID?
You can set the exact pixel dimensions a portal asks for here. A dedicated passport photo maker (with official sizes by country and a KB limit combined) is planned; until then, resize here first, then check the file size with the compressor if the portal also sets a KB limit.
Is there a maximum size?
Dimensions are limited to 20,000 px per side, and very large images depend on your device's memory. Typical phone photos resize instantly.
